INSIGHT
In a society that normalises harmful behaviours and patriarchy persists, Gender-Based Violence (GBV) often hides in plain sight, masked as love, protection or affection. These subtle signs blur the line between healthy and abusive relationships. To help address this, Vodacom developed the Bright Sky SA App: a free tool offering information, support, and guidance to those experiencing or witnessing abuse. For 16 Days of Activism, we launched a campaign to raise awareness of the app and its vital role in helping people recognise the hidden signs of GBV.
IDEA
To spotlight the often-overlooked signs of GBV, we created When You See It - a thought-provoking short film that reveals how abuse can hide behind love, care, or protection. By exposing the subtle red flags of control and manipulation, the film challenges viewers to see what's been hiding in plain sight.
VISUAL LANGUAGE
The blur effect was be used to symbolise how, at times, the signs of abuse can be hidden in plain sight. Similar to the camera lens, our perception on thing can change based on what we are focused on. The Bright sky SA app is the tool that helps you unblur and see clear
